Open U - Information for Instructors
Spring 2009
 
It's time to begin planning for Spring semester. We would like to encourage all members of the community to consider sharing a talent, passion, or hobby through the Open University. Instructors can choose to be paid or volunteer their time.

The Spring 2009 session has 19 weeks available for programming - January 19 - May 29.  We are looking forward to including many of our traditional classes as well as introducing new topics.  
 
Below are some general dates to assist in your planning.
 
Deadline for class proposal to the YMCA – Tuesday November 18th
Open University Catalog Available for Distribution - January 7th
Open University Classes Begin – Monday January 19th
Virginia Tech Spring Break – March 7th - 15th
Virginia Tech Commencement – May 15th & 16th
Open University Classes End – Friday May 29th

We have access to some very nice computer labs on the Virginia Tech campus, so if you have a class in mind that requires a computer lab, please send it our way. We are always looking for new instructors and class topics. Please share this information with anyone who ma ybe interested in teaching for Open University.

Guidelines for Classes

• Classes are usually scheduled Monday – Thursday 5PM-9PM; Saturday 8AM-5PM and Sunday 1-6PM
• Consider offering a class, demonstration and/or workshop that meets on Saturday or Sunday, or over both days.
  

Completed course proposals can be emailed as an attachment or mailed to the YMCA at Virginia Tech at 403 Washington Street, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
