Summer 1995 - Private School - After School Care Program
10 high risk boys and girls ages 7-9, having low self-confidence and low skilled in sports participation. We established an experimental program using Sport Aerobics for 6 weeks, 1 day per week for 1 hour sessions. On the last session performance trials with sports equipment.
Results: All children participated with increased confidence as sessions continued. No apprehension to performance trials for all sports. Skills improved, confidence improved, compliance good. Parents observations were an outstanding method that allowed children to grow at their own pace.
January 1996 - Florida International University - One credit aerobics course elective
120 women ages 17-24, 70% experienced, 30% inexperienced with participating in
an aerobics class. Established an experimental program using Sport Aerobics for 16 weeks, 2 days a week for 50 minutes per class. 4 different classes were taught. Students enrolled in aerobics class not knowing Sport Aerobics would be the method. Each student was required to write a journal of comments after each class, commenting on how they felt, what the learned, and any other comments pertaining to the method and experience. Then at the end of the semester they filled out a survey about the class and Sport Aerobics. Some of the results are listed below.
Results: After participating in Sport Aerobics would you take the class again? 115 of 120 said yes. Do you prefer current aerobics or Sport Aerobics?110 of 120 said Sport Aerobics. Validated enjoyment instrument to measure enjoyment level of Sport Aerobics on a scale of 5. The average was 4.2.
Reasons why students enjoyed method:
1) Easy to follow - playing sports, not following counts, just flow of movements.
2) Learned skills of sports in a unique enjoyable method.
3) Change of intensities allowed self-pacing and challenging workouts.
4) Variety of movements with music maintained interest.
Follow-Up 3 months after course completion - most students participated in sports because of Sport Aerobics class building confidence and skills.
Summer 1996 - Private School- Summer Basketball Conditioning Program
12 middle school boys interested in conditioning for Basketball. Experimental program for 6 weeks, 2 days per week, for one hour.
Results: All participants enjoyed program, interviewed boys for comments: motivating, improved speed, coordination, balance and jumping ability.
Fall 1997 - Florida International University Pre-Season Training & Conditioning Program
25 Varsity Mens Baseball players interested in conditioning for baseball season.
Experimental program for 4 weeks, 2 days per week, for 40 minutes.
Results: All participants enjoyed program, coaches impressed with method to
develop baseball skills and physical conditioning for refinement of footwork, power,
balance and agility
Fall 2000 - Private Family Whose Child Has Autism
Male, Age 10 with diagnosed autism. The parents learned about Dr. B's Sport Aerobics and began practicing the video "Excelling to the Gold" with their son.
Results: According to the parents findings, balance, propprioception and kinesthetic awareness improved dramatically. Running and swimming times also improved. Now this child participates with Dr. B's video every day at 6 a.m. with his workout. He has even encouraged his 3 siblings to participate with him.
Spring 2001 - Tropical Elementary - Grades 1 to 5
60 youth participating with Dr. B's Sport Aerobics skills hanf an hour per week for 8 weeks.
Results: All participants enjoyed the program. A few comments were: "I think you should let us keep sorp arobix because it makes kids learn mor about sports...amd make kid more strong and more disaplen" 4th grade. "I really want to tell you how much Sport Aurobics has change my body, my strength and most of all my interest in sports.N.B. "Sport Arobics is a great program for children and adults of all ages. I have improved my sport skills since I started and alot of my friends have improved too...is a fun way to learn how to dribble a soccer & basketball, rollerskate and skiing. Keep sport srobics going! L.C. 5th grade "...The sport areobic program is good because people who are lasey, the sport areobics turns them into running people. Sport areobics is also fun". Summer 2001 - University of Miami - Mini Canes Camp
200 youth males and females, ages 9 to 11, participated for 20 workout sessions with Dr. B's Sport Aerobics.
Results: 70% of males and females reported that they preferred sport aerobics training over traditional drills. 85% reported that they learned how to move their bodies more with Sport Aerobics over traditional drills. Some comments were: (Female) "I liked practicing the steps and not using the ball", (Female) "I liked it (Sport Aerobics) more than practice drills because I understood it more clearly" (Male) "I liked that it wasn't boring and I didn't have to stand in line" (Male) "I liked that we were always moving".
