As a breed, Siamese are abandoned and turned into shelters more often than any other purebreed. Often this is due to owners not researching the breed characteristics prior to purchasing or rescueing. Siamese can be demanding, loyal, loving, vocal and intelligent pets. These same qualities are listed every day as the reasons for their surrender at shelters around the country. The intelligence of a Siamese cat requires an owner who is willing and able to spend time every day with their pet, playing interactive games that will challenge and stimulate their mind. A bored Siamese can become a destructive Siamese, not out of spite, just natural curiosity and a talent for finding the one thing in the house you did not want them to touch! Siamese can also be the most rewarding and wonderful family member you will ever adopt.
