THE ADOPTION PROCESS
Siamese Rescue Metro (SRM) considers each individual cat's needs and history and the
home environment he/she may be placed in very carefully, prior to final adoption approval.
A brief synopsis of our process is below:
You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt!
First, you must return a completed, signed application to SRM.
We contact the personal and veterinary references you provide.
We interview you by telephone and schedule a home visit if necessary.
Once approved, you will work closely with our adoption team to choose your new family member.
Final approval on all adoptions rests with the cat's Foster parent and our Director.
Only approved adopters may place a "pending" or hold status on a cat and then only for a
limited number of days until arrangements can be made to meet the cat.
Kittens
While they are cute and engaging, raising Siamese kittens is a huge responsibilty. Because they
are curious and inclined to mischief, kittens require lots of supervision and time from their humans.
We also rarely have young kittens in the Rescue because they are easily placed by the Shelters and
not given to Rescue.
Our policies related to kittens are as follows:
1. Siamese kittens can only be adopted by persons who have owned a Siamese in the past.
2. Kittens cannot be adopted into households with children under the age of eight.
3. Kittens must be adopted as pairs or adopted with an adult cat, unless there is already an adult
cat in the household.
4. A home visit is required, with all members of the family present, prior to kitten adoption.
Adoption Fees
Adult Siamese $125.00
Senior Siamese $100.00 (10 years and over)
Pointed Kittens $150.00
Mixed/Pointed kittens $125.00
Siamese mix kittens $ 80.00
At the discretion of the Director, mixed kittens, usually with one Siamese parent and one
non-Siamese parent, will be noted as such on our website. If not noted then full adoption
fee applies.
The above fees include testing for FIV/Felv, Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, deworming,
flea treatment, spay or neuter when applicable, and other veterinary care as necessary.
NOTE: A spay/neuter contract and a refundable deposit of $100.00 are required if kittens
are too small to be spayed prior to being taken home.
Deposit will be returned when proof of spay/neuter is returned.
Proof of surgery may be a computer generated receipt with the cat's original name
(prior to adoption) noted and confirmation the procedure that was performed, or a
note on practice letterhead including the signature of your veterinarian stating that
the animal has been surgically altered and the date of surgery.
Each adoption contract lists a date by which this animal must be spayed
or neutered.
Proof ofSpay/Neuter may be sent via US mail. Please allow 30 days for return of
deposit.
Extension of alter date must be requested of and approved by the Director of SRM.
Animals will be legally removed from your custody if the above conditions have not been
met and no monies paid to SRM shall be returned.
A Senior Citizen discount is offered to adopters over age 70 (proof of age required) but may
only be used for adult cats or non-mixed kittens and cannot be combined with any other discount
and may not be used for the spay/neuter deposit.
