Sexual Assault Response Center
There are a number of ways you can help:
  1. Volunteer Opportunities

SARC relies heavily on volunteers. Following are a variety of ways you can help.

Advocates SARC has two types of volunteer advocates 1.)Crisis Line Advocates, and 2.) Hospital Advocates. Crisis Line Advocates man our 24-hour crisis line from their homes. They provide crisis intervention, support and advocacy. Hospital advocates respond to rape calls at local hospitals. All advocates must complete 34 hours of state certified training and maintain 12 hours of on-going training on an annual basis. The 34 hour advocate training is offered by SARC twice per year.

Board of Directors SARC is currently seeking individuals who are concerned about sexual violence and are committed to assisting the agency. Board meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 5:15 pm.  Please contact JoDee Garretson at (509) 374-5391 for more information.

    Financial

As a 501(c)3, SARC relies on the generosity of community members and grant dollars. All financial donations are welcome and appreciated. When requested, we designate donations for specific programs and/or purposes. We are able to accept contributions by check or credit card.

    Fundraising Events

  3. Fundraising Events

    • "A Starry Starry Night" benefit auction. SARC hosts an annual benefit auction in the summer. The proceeds support counseling and advocacy services. Contributions of items and services to auction are needed. Auction sponsors are also needed.

    • "Little People" project. Each spring SARC displays three dimensional little people that represent the number of children who^s case was investigated for child abuse in Benton and Franklin counties for the previous year. This year we will have more than 500 little people displayed throughout the community. While the initial impetus behind the event was to raise the awareness of child abuse, we are also attempting to raise funds at the same time. Each "Little Person" is available for sponsorship. For $10 you may sponsor a child. Your name will be written on a heart that reads, "Helping Little Hearts Heal". The heart will be placed around a little persons neck. You name will also be included on a sign that depicts all of the sponsors and will be displayed along with the little people.
