Please see letter below from Ann Remus, Chair of Trustees, to learn more about this exciting news.

March 17, 2009
Dear Parents,
The Board of Trustees of Seacoast Academy is pleased to announce that Martha Shepardson-Killam has agreed to become the second Head of Seacoast Academy. She will officially begin her work with us on July 1, 2009. Eager to build on the firm foundation laid so wonderfully by Scott Votey, Martha will be working unofficially with Scott and members of the Transition Committee throughout the spring. The Transition Committee is being chaired by Christina Breen and has representation from all school constituencies: Scott, parents, faculty, and trustees.
Martha brings with her an impressive resume, that speaks to broad and deep knowledge and experience. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, she received a Master of Arts in French from Middlebury College and the Sorbonne. She has taught and/or been a school administrator at The Hewlett School in East Islip, NY; The Southborough School in Southborough, MA; St. Mark's School in Southborough, MA; Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT; and Redwood Day School in Oakland CA. She was Head of School at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, MA, where, under her vision and leadership, that school added a new middle school. She is currently the Head of School at the Capitol Hill Day School, a K-8 school in Washington, DC.
Seacoast is fortunate that Martha and her husband David have close connections to northern New England. Those connections, combined with the invigorating opportunity to lead a start-up middle school, have brought her to us. We look forward toopportunitiesfor her to meet with all parents in informal settings very soon after she arrives in July. I hope you will join me in warmly welcoming her and in helping her to learn about the unique place of excellence that is Seacoast Academy.
Sincerely,
Ann G. Remus
Chair, Board of Trustees
