How You Can Help

Education is a key component of the mission of The Safe Haven Project. In addition to our international efforts, The SPEAKOUT program is an important facet of its educational outreach in the U.S.

WHAT IS SPEAKOUT?

SPEAKOUT is a traveling educational program that brings speakers to schools, conferences and seminars across the nation. Over the years, the SPEAKOUT program has been presented to thousands of young people.

SPEAKOUT presenters include those living with HIV and AIDS who share not only their stories but also important information on the nature of the HIV pandemic, the stigma and prejudice so often experienced by those living with HIV, and the need for continued outreach to this segment of the population. In addition, speakers present on the importance of compassionate service, prevention, and the power of the individual to create profound change in the world around them.

Many young people who have attended a SPEAKOUT presentation credit Safe Haven with their initiative to become involved in service not only in their communities but also through the various volunteer opportunities offered by The Safe Haven Project.
