School-Age Programs
RNH's After-School Program is held in high regard and has mentored two Bronx-based agencies through the Partnership for After-School Education (PASE). Moreover, our program is one of only three literacy programs in New York City designated as "exemplary" by the Robert Bowne Foundation.
After-School Program
Designed for five to twelve-year-olds, this program creatively integrates literacy projects into a balance of recreational and enrichment activities. Our dedicated staff gets to know every participant in our comfortable setting where children can learn, relax and interact with both peers and mentors. We have activities to match all kinds of interests - and our large, safe play yard invites children to swim in the summertime, and play outdoor sports like basketball, kickball, and more.
Children also learn to serve their community through bake sales for those in need, or by making sandwiches for the weekly "midnight run," which helps feed the hungry.
Children are picked up at P.S. 81 and other local schools. Program hours are after school until 6:00 pm and we are open full days when school is closed at no extra charge.
Summer Camp
Five- to twelve-year-olds love this full-day summer program. Activities include daily swimming and organized sports such as basketball, volleyball and tennis; arts and crafts; and weekly barbecues!
We also go on weekly trips to places like the Liberty Science Center and the New York Aquarium. Camp hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (with extended care until 6:00 available).
For more information on fees and registration, please call Kathy Duffy at 718-549-8100 x125 starting in January.
Funded in part by the NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS), NYS Senator Jeffrey Klein, individual donors and private foundations.
