Hello!
As September approaches and summer dwindles down, we here at Riverdale Neighborhood House hope that you enjoyed your vacation time--whether you spent it in a faraway place or stayed local by splashing in the RNH pool.
Read on for our latest news:
-
Tickets will soon be available for the RNH Annual Benefit, honoring the outstanding community work of Bick Caputo. Mark your calendars: The event will take place on Sunday evening, October 26th at the elegant Yonkers restaurant X2O Xaviars on the Hudson. If you are interested in attending the event or in purchasing an advertisement for the commemorative journal that will be distributed at the gala, please e-mail info@riverdaleonline.org for details.

The Riverdale Youthmarket is in full swing! Each Thursday between 3:00 and 7:00 PM, RNH Teen Program participants sell farm-fresh fruits and vegetables in front of the Dodge Building at the corner of Mosholu Avenue and West 256th Street. This three-way partnership between RNH, the Riverdale ‘Y and the NYC Council on the Environment has been a great neighborhood success. Come next Thursday and check it out for yourself! The Youthmarket will continue through Halloween.

As you may already know, not all of the recent news at RNH has been wonderful. Drastic budget cuts in New York City resulted in a loss of all but 18 seats in our newly-created, full-day Universal Pre-Kindergarten. This sudden loss of funds hit both RNH and our families hard as we all had already made our plans for the year. But we reacted quickly. Within days, we revised our full-day pre-Kindergarten model into a public/private partnership, and most of our families were able to remain with us. The new model will also expand the free, half-day UPK program for an additional 14 children. For more information, please call 718-549-8100 x133.

The newly-enhanced Drop-In Childcare Program at RNH is ready to provide busy parents with a break so they can run errands, make appointments, or just relax while their children are cared for at the RNH Family Center. A brand new curriculum and expanded capacity will ensure that more families are supported, even at the “last minute.” The program operates five mornings per week for three hours each day. Registration for the first cycle (September through November) has already begun. For more information about how to “drop-in” with your child, please call 718-549-8100 x111.

Are you a bargain-hunter who likes to shop and loves to save? RNH is now selling Macy’s one-day super-coupons, to be redeemed at any location on Saturday, September 20th. For only $5, you will receive a 20% discount on almost everything in the store, even clearance items! Better yet, every penny of your $5 will benefit the programs and services of Riverdale Neighborhood House. Contact 718-549-8100 x123 or info@riverdaleonline.org for more information.
Be sure to soak up those last few drops of summer fun! And don’t forget to check our website periodically for more updates. Thank you!
