Community Food Bank of San Benito County


NEW PROGRAMS		FOOD STAMP PROGRAM: Our Outreach coordinator is working with San Benito County staff members to assist our clients with the application process for Food Stamps. NUTRITION EDUCATION PROGRAM: We have established a nutrition training program for our clients and others in San Benito county. So far classes have been done at the Community Pantry office and at Emmaus House. These classes are giving in English and Spanish. BACKPACK PROGRAM: Students in local schools are being given backpacks. These backpacks will be refilled weekly with nutritious foods. This program will continue throughout the summer.
We are becoming the Food Bank for San Benito County!!!!!		We have been working toward this goal for 4 years. We have negotiated a new contract with Feeding America and Second Harvest of Santa Cruz County. They will no longer be identified with San Benito County. We have arrived! We will be know as the Community Food Bank of San Benito County! This means access to more funding and an increase in mission: Stay tuned for more information!

What our volunteers have accomplished		In 2007 volunteers worked over 17,000 hours. In 2008 volunteers worked over 21,000 hours That is now the equivalent of ten full time employees. That is worth $146,000 in labor
