Dear Friend of One Stop,
EXCITING NEWS! One Stop Senior Services will be featured tonight on the NBC Nightly News (6:30 p.m. ET) in a story on the new Medicare prescription drug coverage.
This morning, we received a visit from federal and local officials, including Secretary of Health and Human Services, Michael Leavitt and Secretary of Labor, Elaine Chao. The delegation, which also included Edwin Mendez-Santiago, NYC Commissioner of the Department for the Aging (DFTA), came to observe One Stop counsel Upper West Side Seniors on the changes in prescription coverage under Medicare Part D. DFTA, one of our major supporters, chose One Stop as a model program working with the city’s elderly and diverse populations.
Enrollment in the new plan begins tomorrow, November 15. This will be a very busy time for us as we help our clients navigate the sometimes confusing prescription options available to them. Thankfully, DFTA has provided us with staff support and improved technology to handle the increased demand for our services.
If you have any questions about Medicare Part D or would like to sign-up for an appointment with a counselor, please call us at 212-864-7900.
In the meantime, please watch for us tonight on NBC! And, please check our website soon for pictures from today’s event (www.onestopseniorservices.org).
Best wishes to you and your family during this Thanksgiving season.
Regards,
Ruth-Ellen Simmonds
