        Presenting the Nashua Music Exchange--
an all female pop group
singing in three part harmony


            On Sunday, May 18 at 2:00, the Nashua Music Exchange will be presenting a benefit concert for the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 58 Lowell Street, Nashua. The Music Exchange, an all female pop group that has been singing for more than 9 years, specializes in music from the 40’s to the 60’s and Broadway numbers. This concert, with the theme of “Places,”. will feature large group, small group and solo numbers. Included in the concert are numbers such as “New York, New York,” “Hernando’s Hideaway,” “California Dreamin,” “Route 66,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and “Oh Shenandoah.”. 
 
        The Nashua Music Exchange is directed by Lillian Goulet of Nashua.  Lillian earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and studied theater production at the University of New York at Fredonia. She has directed musical productions with the Nashua Theatre Guild, the Peacock Players, and the Junior Actorsingers. She was a former member of the Nashua Choral Society and the Chelmsford Choral Society and is the reigning Mrs. Senior New Hampshire. Terry Murphy, the accompanist of the group, hails from Hollis. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music and has played with the Norwood High School orchestra, a 5-piece dance band, and has accompanied the Hollis Junior and Senior High School choruses. The members of the Nashua Music Exchange come from towns throughout southern New Hampshire, including Nashua, Hudson, Merrimack, and Hollis. The Music Exchange is a non-profit organization that performs benefit concerts and also travels to area nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
 
        All proceeds gathered from freewill donations at the concert will benefit the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Inc. This worthy organization has been serving the greater Nashua area, including the towns of Nashua, Hudson, Milford, Amherst, Merrimack, Wilton, Windham, Hollis and Mont Vernon, since 1981. The Soup Kitchen, which relies heavily on private contributions, provides many services to local towns. Among the services provided are: serving breakfast Monday through Friday, dinner Monday through Sunday, providing shelter for men, women and children, providing transitional housing and low income rentals, stocking and providing emergency food bags and personal hygiene items, diapers, and school supplies for children. According to Lisa Christie, Executive Director of the Nashua Soup Kitchen, their mission is “to provide more than a warm meal and a safe place to sleep at night. We offer services and programs to help our clients make meaningful changes to improve their lives and the lives of their families.”
 

        The dream of the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter staff is to end homelessness in our community. The members of the Nashua Music Exchange support that dream. Please join us for a great afternoon: enjoy some wonderful music and help the Soup Kitchen to move a little closer to achieving their goal. The concert will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 58 Lowell Street in Nashua. Freewill donations will be accepted at the door.
