"Going Green"
What does that mean?
The Nashua Soup Kitchen's 16th Annual Run for Food & Shelter is going green this year! We're looking at our carbon footprint and working to reduce it. Some of the things we will be doing:
-
Having port-o-potties that use non-toxic, biodegradable solutions.
-
Using local, organic and fair trade food products wherever possible.
-
Using compostable materials such as plates, napkins and cups.
How can you help?
-
Reduce paper usage by registering on-line. Do it right now by clicking
here.
- Instead of driving, ride your bicycle to the race; or carpool with friends.
- Recycle, recycle, recycle - we'll have plenty of receptacles around for everything from food waste to plastics to paper. Please make an effort to help us recycle by using the appropriate receptacles.
We are striving to be the first Certified Race in New Hampshire. With growing awareness of environmental responsibility in mainstream habits and media, sporting events provide the opportunity for high-profile realignment toward a planning model that takes into consideration environmental and social impact. We are trying to incorporate environmental responsibility into our event. Certified events have met minimum standards in each of five categories described by the
Resport certification.
All compostable cups, napkins, plates, wax paper and trash bags are available locally from our event sponsor
