• Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1^st in the year of graduation
• Complete the scholarship application form online
• Submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on the topic: “Why Education is Important to Me ”

Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship Requirements:

• African American Female
• College Sophomore or Junior enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Majors in journalism, economics or related field (public policy, creative writing, etc.)
• Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
• United States citizen
• Complete the scholarship application online
• Submit a 1000 word essay on the topic: Your Career Plans and their Relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Program Theme: “Black Women’s Hands Can Rock the World”

Filing Period: December 1^st through March 1^st

                                                      Dorothy G. Allsop Scholarship Requirements:

§         African American graduating high school senior

§         Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1^st in the year of graduation

§         Complete the scholarship application form online

§         Submit a typed essay of no less than 250 words on the topic “Why Cosmetology/Beauty Culture is Important to Me” 

§         (Open to Connecticut Residents Only)

                            Filing Period: December 1^st through March 1^st

Deadline for submission: March 1^st in the year of graduation  Application

The Dr. Blanca Moore-Velez Woman of Substance Scholarship Requirements:

• African American Female – age 35+
• Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st
• Complete the scholarship application online
• Submit a 500 word essay – Topic: “Challenges to the Mature Student and How I Overcame Them”
• (Only open to residents of the state of Texas)
