The Art of the Homeless

Artwork of MHS homeless clients is featured in an article and an artshow.

"Out of the Box,: Misconceptions of Homelessness" is a month-long art exhibit, featuring the works of 11 residents of the MHS Community Women’s Shelter. The art and showcase were featured on the front page of yesterday's issue of The Plain Dealer.

The article tells the story of the art and the dreams of the Shelter's homeless women. Carlotta Perkins, one of the artists, explains: "...we each have different stories. We all have talents. Just give us a chance to show them. We only need a chance."

We send e-mail Service Notes to those who have expressed an interest in our mission.  We understand that time is limited, unlike the number of  e-mail items you may seem to get.  If you'd like us to refrain from sending future newsletters, just let us know.

We would also like to know if someone forwarded this, and you'd like to directly receive future Service Notes, or if you have a new e-mail address.  And, of course, we welcome your comments. Please send a message to Joel [the "at" symbol] mhs-inc.org   Thank you.
