On December 19, 2002, Roy A. Bernardi, HUD Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development, and Senator George Voinovich came to MHS to announce that HUD will provide more than $55.6 million for housing and supportive services to homeless individuals and families in Ohio. Cleveland and Cuyahoga County will receive $14.4 million of those funds. The homeless assistance and emergency shelter programs of MHS operate with funding from HUD, the Ohio Department of Mental Health, individual and corporate donors, and foundations.
