COMPANION/ADVOCATES for Breast Cancer-Related Medical Visits:
Companion/Advocates are Breast Cancer Survivors trained to accompany newly diagnosed patients or those facing a possible diagnosis to their medical appointments. A trained Companion Advocate is there for support, to ensure that important questions get asked and are answered, as a resource to verify exactly what was discussed at the visit, and to share their experience as Survivors.
ALL INFORMATION IS STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL - NO MEDICAL ADVICE IS GIVEN AT ANY TIME.
CALL US IF YOU NEED US TO ACCOMPANY YOU ON A VISIT

CAMP LIGHTHEART: A free sleepover camp for children from 8-15 who have a parent with breast cancer. August 26-August 29th, 2008 at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck NY.

BREAST CANCER FORUMS:
Informational seminars on breast cancer held all throughout the Hudson Valley in conjunction with our legislators, hospitals, libraries and other interested groups. Survivors get a chance to ask questions on topics that may get overlooked. Some of the topics covered: Top Breast Cancer Myths, Breast Cancer & the Environment, Reducing Your Risk of Recurrence, Effective Treatment Options, What is a Healthy Diet?, Your Rights as a Patient, Companion/Advocate Program.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES SUPPORT SERIES: "The series looks at the ways we can make small and easy changes in our daily lives for optimum health. Topics covered are: Making Informed Decisions About Complementary/ Alternative Approaches; What to Eat & Why- An in-depth discussion food as medicine; Imagery & Healing; Risk Reduction Strategies. Looking at the evidence pointing to the benefits of "anti cancer" diets, exercise, managing stress, and removing harmful chemicals from the environment. We are often left on our own to put together a healthier way of living after a cancer diagnosis. Very often there is increased anxiety after conventional treatments are completed and we are at a loss at what to do to keep ourselves healthy. We return to high stress lives giving little thought to exercise, good nutrition, and risk reduction.
