Mission
Our mission is to assist and empower the women of our community to achieve goals of emotional, physical, and economic survival so that they may build futures free from violence.

History
L.U.N.A. was developed as a community-based pilot program in 1999 with the purpose of providing culturally-specific services to Latina victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Understanding that victims need more than counseling services to survive abuse, the pilot program was developed from a holistic perspective, encompassing the physical, emotional, and economic survival and empowerment of women.

After two years of providing services, members of L.U.N.A., in the capacity of volunteers, developed a formal organizational structure, obtained the appropriate legal recognition, and acquired federal and state funding to function in an official capacity. On August 16, 2002, L.U.N.A. received its non-profit status, and opened its doors on October 11, 2002.
