Allison Payne, AmeriCorps Member, Communications Associate
Allison Payne is a second-year VOCAL AmeriCorps member and Communications Associate at Literacy Volunteers of Illinois. At LVI, Allison is the editor of the VOCAL newsletter, manages LVI’s website and creates communications materials for organization events. She also tutors in reading, writing and math once a week at IYC – Chicago.
Prior to joining VOCAL, Allison worked for Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, IA and interned in the Sales and Marketing department at the Iowa Communications Network through the University of Iowa’s Des Moines Center Internship Program. Allison has worked in the Preservation Department at the University of Iowa’s Main Library, served and hosted at Takanami restaurant in Iowa City and worked as a Sales Associate at Williams-Sonoma.
Allison has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, The American Cancer Society and Children and Families of Iowa. She has also been a volunteer writer for the Beacon Women’s Shelter, panel speaker during Asian-American Week at the University of Iowa, teacher’s aide in the Adolescent and Child Psychology department at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service sorority.
Allison holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa with a major in English and minor in Psychology.
