
Angela Atkinson, Program Coordinator, IYC-Harrisburg
As Program Coordinator, Angela’s primary responsibilities are to refer and recruit volunteers at IYC-Harrisburg. She conducts recruitment activities, provides individual and group orientations, and coordinates initial and in-service training for volunteers. Atkinson assists in identifying, recruiting and assessing youth for program participation. She is involved in the AmeriCorps program by providing supervision for members, who are serving as tutors and/or staff at IYC-Harrisburg. Other duties include monitoring and maintaining program records, submitting articles for the Eye on IYC newsletter, assisting teachers and staff as needed, and preparing monthly reports.
Prior to joining LVI, Atkinson was the owner and licensed operator of the “Lil’ Dumplin’ Gang” Creative Curriculum Learning Group Daycare for over ten years, which specialized in helping special needs children and their families. She has worked as a Computer Teacher at the Learning Alternative Branch School, taught in special education, and worked for the Truant Alternative and Safe Schools Programs.
Atkinson is the recipient of Kappa Scholarship and has received certificates of appreciation and recognition for judicial studies and for her work with incarcerated youth.
