Robert Kim. Robert works on obsessive pen and ink drawings. Also he constructs, in an unselfconscious naïf precisionism, architectural models of the Transamerica Building and of the heartbreakingly star-crossed Twin Towers. Don't mistake renditions of the World Trade Center or the lavish incorporation of the Stars and Stripes into art work on these pages as irreverent. Most of the artists and inhabitants of Skid Row express a disarmingly sincere patriotism. Very visible high traumatization shakes Skid Row. The people react to tragedy striking higher eschelons of society as if it cuts into themselves. Their emotion and grieving for national tragedies is all the more poignant in light of the severe dispossession they have experienced at the hands of our society.
