Here is Astrid. (Magdalena Astrid Dalen). She began with Lamp Art Project while living in Lamp's Day Center Emergency Shelter on San Julian Street. She currently has her own Section 8 subsidized apartment and commutes a formidable distance, to the art project, by Public Transportation. Her average round trip to the art project from her dwelling in South Central takes 2 hours on the bus.
She does this because she has found the Lamp Art Project to be an effective studio environment that meets her needs as an artist. Having academic experience in both her native Holland and in the United States, she explains the art project has been far more helpful than her college experiences.
