Special Needs Groups

Basic  Programs (see below for special seasonal programs)
Life at King Manor (grades 1-3)
Visit the parlor, dining room, library & servant areas while learning about life on a farm in the early 1800's. Includes handling artifacts. Year round; $5 per student.

Discovering Rufus King (grades 4 & up)
Visit the home of this forgotten founding father & discover his many contributions to our nation. Year round; $5 per student.

Program Extras
Add any of the following to Life at King Manor or Discovering Rufus King for an additional $1 per student.

Historic Fun & Games (all grades)
Try your hand at the kind of games played in the 18th & 19th centuries.

Craft Workshops (all grades)
Have your students make a whirligig or seasonal craft –fun historic toys and more that students can take home as a souvenir!

Artifact Discovery (grades 3, 7-12)
Students study and identify various archaeological artifacts, including pipe bowls, ceramic sherds, and other typical archaeological discoveries.


Seasonal Programs
Archaeology at King Manor
(grades 4-6)
A tour of King Manor & hands-on activities introduce students to some of the steps (but not digging) involved in archaeology. This program can accommodate only one class per day (one class is equal to 30 students). $8 per student - Discount offered for early registration.

Wednesday - Friday
October 1 - November 26, 2008 and  May 6-June 12, 2009

Winter Diversions and Celebrations (all grades)
Come hear about seasonal festivities of the 19th century, and learn how people passed cold winter months! $5 per studen.t Make a pomander for $1 extra – a scented ornament with citrus, spice, and ribbon!
December 2008 - January 2009

NEW!!!  Thematic Tours: Your Choice (grades 4 & up)
Choose your tour focus and commemorate Black History Month or WOmens' History Month! Learn either about Rufus King and his early anti-slavery efforts of about Mary King and the work of women of the household! $5 per student.
