THE VALUE AND TECHNIQUE OF TRANSLATION COMPARISONS

Their are many different varieties and types of translatons, for example, their are revised, literal, modern and paraphased versions of the bible. These variations provide something for everyone. Different translations can make for a more broadened bible study with their richness if insight.

Their are three main types of bible translations. They are literal (one English word for one Greek or Hebrew word, i.e., King James version), modern (present day, i.e., Weymouth) speech and expanded renderings (William Barclay, Arthur S. Way).

Using different translations in bible study are valuable and indispensable to the Christian of today. They throw so much more light on even the most familiar bible verses thus opening up our understanding of each verse. It is like using a magnifying glass to dig deeper into God's word. The translations give us an abundance of fresh new material to study and ponder. Our translations strive to bring out the nuances and implications of each verse. These techniques make the bible come alive to the average reader and shed large beams of light on the subject whereas before there was only a flashlight view.
