The Nelle Tobias
Award for Philanthropy

The purpose of the Nelle Tobias Award for Philanthropy is to recognize and celebrate extraordinary generosity and passionate vision for a better world – qualities that Nelle Tobias demonstrated in her life and legacy.

FUND for IDAHO has selected Mary Lou and Scott Reed of Coeur d'Alene, ID as our 2009 honorees. We are holding a Champagne Brunch to honor them on August 15th at The Cabin (formerly the Log Cabin Literary Center) on Capital Boulevard next to the Boise Public Library. The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Previous honorees include Doug and Ann Christensen of Ketchum in 2007 and Kathy Troutner of Boise and McCall, ID, in 2008. To RSVP for this event, CLICK HERE.

Nomination criteria for this award include:

  • Contributions of financial resources as well as significant time
  • Living a life reflective of the values s/he supports
  • Dedication to making the world a better place without regard for personal recognition
This award is to be given to an exceptional Idahoan who has contributed time and money, as exemplified by Nelle Tobias, in furthering the vision of a just, compassionate and environmentally healthy Idaho that is respectful of its history and its peoples.
“The fragile world we live in depends on us.
It is our home. It is a sacred gift.
We have a spiritual connection with the land and what it produces.
We must take care of it.
