Thank you for your interest in the Foodbank Volunteer Program. Below you will find a list of the basic ongoing opportunities we have for volunteers. On Going Opportunities:

Administrative Support: Volunteers are need on a scheduled and on-call basis. Primary tasks often involve answering phones, data entry, help with small office mailings, filing, and using office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, ECT.

Short-term Office Projects: Do you have a special skill or talent? The Foodbank frequently has short-term projects that we need the help of independent thinkers for. Ask about projects we have in mind or make suggestions that you think would benefit the Foodbank. Past or possible opportunities include: maintenance of our webpage, researching, creating games to teach the Food Pyramid, writing columns for our newsletter, putting together recipe booklets, or developing/maintaining data bases/spreadsheets.

Fundraising: Activities include actively seeking in-kind services for event-related expenses, and sharing input regarding progress and planning of entertainment, food and beverage, marketing and public relations with Development Staff. Our Tastefully Yours Event will be kicking off its planning stages and we will be looking for individuals with strong contacts in the community to assist in securing participation & funding for this event.

Warehouse: Opportunities include assisting in loading food on and off trucks, organizing donations on the warehouse floor, pulling USDA orders, or performing light maintenance duties. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Reclamation Sorting: Volunteers are needed to inspect and evaluate damaged cans and packages of nonperishable food products, and to sort these donations for redistribution in the warehouse shopping area. A brief training session is required to teach volunteers how to determine which products are safe for consumption. This is a great opportunity for small groups!

SHARE Peninsula: A once-a-month food ordering program for ANYONE. The distribution takes place the 4th Saturday of each month and it begins a 5:00AM and last about 4-5 hours. Volunteers of all ages are needed for a variety of tasks that make this program come together each month on D-Day. Up coming distributions include: July 22nd, August 26th, September 23rd, October 28th, November 18th, and December 16th.

Special Events: Include promotions, receptions, and issue specific events such as Tastefully Yours, The 106.9 the Fox Food Drive, 13 News Scouting for Food, Helping Hands Food Drive, Souper Bowl, National Hunger Awareness Day, and the NALC Food Drive. These events occur all throughout the year. We need volunteers to help during events to accept contributions, sort food donations onsite, and varies other event specific duties; volunteers also needed to represent the Foodbank at community functions such as volunteer fairs, food shows, and Expo events.

Kids Cafe: Frequently needs volunteers both at any-one of the 22 sites across our service area and also here at the warehouse to help pull product for site coordinators and help stock the Kids Cafe pantry.

* We are always looking for volunteers willing to deliver food to locations and/or to help prepare lunches to be taken to these sites*

Nutrition Education: Is looking for on call volunteers for help with preparing training materials for classes such as Food Can Be Fun, Safe Food Handling, and Food Manager Certification courses. This requires knowledge of copy machines and detail oriented individuals.

Professional Skills: Also needed and welcome at the Foodbank, especially in the fields of photography, graphic design, consulting/training, and printing.
