What is SHARE?
SHARE stands for Self-Help And Resource Exchange. Essentially,
SHARE is a national network of nonprofit organizations dedicated to
providing quality monthly food packages at a reduced cost, promoting
volunteer service in our communities and building partnerships with
community organizations.
SHARE is a community building
organization that offers a nutritious food package worth approximately
$40 dollars for only $20 dollars and two hours of community service,
also known as volunteering! SHARE is not a government program, but is
funded by grants, donations, and the price of the food package.
Who Can Participate? SHARE is unique because it
includes everyone. There are no qualifications to participate in SHARE.
Most people become involved with SHARE to save money and because they
enjoy helping others.
What Is In the Food Package?
A typical month includes 6-8 lbs. of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables,
and staple items rice, pasta, potatoes, etc. The package is designed to
supplement a family’s food budget with savings of 50 percent over local
or more than grocery store prices.
