THANKS TO YOUR HELP AND THE SUPPORT OF CNU STUDENTS, STAFF,
FACULTY, ALUMNI, THE COMMUNITY, AND KEY BUSINESS PARTNERS,
THE FOOD FOR THOUGHT INITIATIVE GREATLY EXCEEDED OUR HIGH EXPECTATIONS.
Here are the outcomes of the day that you worked so hard to make a reality:
We collected 59,195 pounds of food and the Foodbank received $4,749.00
in financial donations, resulting in the equivalent of 78,195 pounds of food, or 96,180 individual meals
This is a new Foodbank record and shattered our original goal of 50,000 pounds.
“Our students should confront hunger, poverty, misfortune, human suffering and
loss and through these experiences come to understand the harsh realities of this world.
They must also know how their unique abilities can turn hardship into triumph to instill in
them a life-long sense of responsibility for making the world a better place,” noted president Trible.
“Food for Thought” involved all of CNU’s faculty, staff and students. The event was part of CNU's “Days of Service” initiative, designed to unite campus and community members in collaborative projects for the mutual benefit of the broader Peninsula community. The initiative facilitates programs that help meet community-defined needs and allow students to apply their academic knowledge and skills to contemporary issues.
