Six Components of the Kids On Ice® Program:
Skaters, ages 5 to 18, progress from beginning through intermediate ice skating skills. Students are tested at the end of each session and progress to the next skating level as they pass each test. This program follows the U.S. Figure Skating Association curriculum and testing standards. Close to 300 children participate in each of the three sessions annually. Emily Mayer, a PSA certified, professional skating instructor, oversees this class. Volunteers assist with teaching. All volunteers are skilled skaters. No previous skating experience is required to take this class.
2) Instructional Ice Hockey
Skaters, ages 5 to 18, progress from beginning hockey skills to league levels. It is recommended that participants have basic skating skills (forward & backward skating, ability to stop) before registering for this class. Instructors follow the USA Hockey curriculum and testing standards. Participants must provide their own mouth guard and athletic cup.
