Featured Opportunities

Evening Childcare Provider

Dignity Housing is looking for caring individuals to provide childcare to 10-15 young children (ages 2-10) on Wednesday evenings between the hours of 7-9. During this time the mothers gather in a separate on-site area for a weekly support group.

We are looking for volunteers with a recent criminal background check and Pennsylvania State child abuse clearance to provide childcare on a rotating basis (weekly, bi-monthly, monthly). Prior childcare experience preferred. References encouraged.

If you are looking for a way to give back to the community and love kids this is a great opportunity for you!

Front Desk Clerk

Friendly, outgoing volunteer needed for answering phones and some light office work.  Give just a few hours of your week and work with Dignity II, a transitional housing complex dedicated to bettering the lives of homeless women and children.

Primarily afternoon hours are needed. Some prior experience is good.  Must be over 18.

Volunteer Betty Crocker

Put your expert baking skills to use and make snacks for our weekly women's discussion group.  Meetings are an opportunity for formerly homeless women to discuss their challenges and progress.  Encourage them in their journey toward self-sufficiency!  Snack drop-off times are flexible.

Behavior Coach

Currently, Dignity Housing is in search of a Behavior Coach to work with children in the After School Program (ASP). This position is ideal for someone interested in working with children, and/or an individual who is pursuing a career in education, social work, guidance counseling or a related field/profession.
  • The Behavior Coach will work closely with the Youth and Family Specialist to assess and address the individual behavior problems of children in the ASP.
  • The Behavior Coach will reinforce the ASP expectations regarding positive, healthy child/adolescent behavior and will also serve as an "ear" for students experiencing challenges in the ASP (including being the victim or perpetrator of bullying behaviors, lacking coping skills to deal with academic challenges, being defiant or oppositional to authority, being shy and anxious around peers, etc.).
  • The ideal volunteer will be firmly committed to the entire 4 – 6 weeks for the sake of the children in the ASP program.

Mentor/Tutor/Role-Model for Dignity's African American Males

  • Spend task-specific time with the students (helping with homework, playing a game, etc.)
  • Encourage positive and appropriate behavior among the children/youth.
  • We are looking for a volunteer to participate in the ASP weekly or bi-weekly based on his availability. Current ASP Staff will also be present during the program. Recent, dated Pennsylvania State child abuse clearance and criminal background check preferred. Two childcare references required.
