Community Boards is a volunteer service delivery organization. We really rely on our volunteers. There are many ways people can assist us in fulfilling our mission to all of San Francisco.

Many people want to volunteer as community mediators. In order to qualify for serving as a community mediator, people must take our core training, Basics of Mediation.

Volunteers can act as community liaisons throughout San Francisco.  They can help with some of these outreach opportunities:
Make presentations to groups

Distribute brochures and materials

Attend regularly scheduled community meetings at police stations, supervisoral district meetings, and neighborhood functions

Write articles and contribute to Community Boards’ publications

Target new audiences and forge new alliances with other groups and organizations

For volunteers who want involvement in Community Boards’ ongoing operations, they can:
Learn intake and case management

Conduct follow up interviews

Participate in special projects: fundraising, research, marketing, etc

For those seeking to gain experience as a trainer, Community Boards offer substantial opportunities to learn and practice.  Out trained community mediators can:
Present training segments

Coach role plays

Contribute to logistical planning and implementation

Train in schools and other organizational settings
