SPECIAL EDUCATION

The Council offers special education programs and assistance to all of the local Jewish preschools, day schools, supplemental schools, high school and adult education classes. The Council's Education Inclusion Consultants visit each school, observe students and meet with the teachers to discuss strategies for educational success in regular classes. For those students who have severe learning problems, the Council offers matching funds for self-contained special education and resource classes in several of the religious schools. Students who need specialized tutoring receive it from tutors; sign language interpreters are provided by the Council as needed. The Council's special education staff is available for in-service teacher and classroom aides training, and the Council maintains a special education resource library available to the community. The Council staff assists parents in their exploration of an appropriate religious school for their child. Special Education funds have been provided through the Esther Sattler Memorial Education Fund.

The Council For Jews With Special Needs is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix: www.jewishphoenix.org
