CONSORTIUM OF JEWISH SPECIAL EDUCATORS IN CENTRAL AGENCIES FOR JEWISH EDUCATION

The Consortium of Special Educators in Central Agencies for Jewish Education was founded in 1985 by Rabbi Martin Schloss and Dr. Sara Rubinow Simon for the purpose of supporting special education programs in North American Jewish communities as well as providing resources to Jewish special educators through a professional network of their colleagues.  Members of the Consortium communicate throughout the year via a listserve, publish an annual newsletter in conjunction with JESNA (Jewish Education Service of North America) and meet once a year to share ideas and materials to enhance and expand special education in Jewish educational settings.  Membership in the Consortium is limited to the special education representative designated by the community’s Central Agency for Jewish Education or Jewish Federation. The Consortium is currently co-chaired by Dr. Shana Erenberg and Becca Hornstein.

Parents or professionals who have questions for members of the Consortium can send an e-mail to becca@cjsn.org   Inquiries will be circulated among the Consortium members and a reply sent to the person making the inquiry.

The Council For Jews With Special Needs hosted the annual gathering of the Consortium members in Scottsdale in May, 2003.

The Council For Jews With Special Needs is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix: www.jewishphoenix.org
