The Mission of Channing House, as an expression of its charitable purpose, is to provide a high quality living environment that enhances each residents' independence, well-being and security.

This is accomplished through professional and compassionate management of resources, programs, and services that meet the needs of residents throughout the course of their lives.

 The Story of Channing House

Channing House was the vision of Dr. Russel V.A. Lee, Medical Director and one of the founders of the Palo Alto Medical Clinic.

 Dr. Lee conceived this not-for-profit retirement residence as a comfortable home;  a place where a group of congenial individuals could continue active and productive lives in a community which preserves their social worth and self-esteem; and a family-like setting to provide care on site when that is eventually required.

 Forty years after the opening in 1964, Channing House continues to enjoy the highest reputation for the achievement of these important and worthwhile goals.
