Construction Project Updates -- For week of September 28, 2009
1. Health Center Plans have been resubmitted to OSHPD for second round of comments and corrections of our plans. Backcheck comments have come back and are being responded to by HKIT, our architects.
2. The final phase of re-roofing the Health Center, Auditorium and 2nd Floor deck areas is well underway. We have uncovered a problem with moisture under the topping slab roof. We are in the process of removing this cement so that we can complete the re-roofing project.
3. Balcony restoration work has begun. Swing stages are in place to allow the workmen safe working environment. They are removing broken cement edges, replacing damaged rebar from the balconies and reparing the surfaces for new epoxy coatings. This work will be noisy and messy. We have completed approximately 50% of this work. We have begun work on the Channing side of the front of the building. We are asking residents and visitors to not park in the spaces close to the building where the men are working.
