June 2009 - The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin has organized a collaborative effort to benefit clients of ECHO and local farmers simultaneously.

An anonymous donor has offered a challenge to the community; the donor will contribute up to $2,500 by giving $1 for every $2 raised for the program.  To date, the Community Foundation has raised $6092.50 (including the Match) for the Janesville Farmers Market Project.

Here's how it works:  ECHO will distribute coupons to their clients on a weekly basis.  Each coupon will be worth $5 of fresh produce/meat; married couples will be eligible for two coupons/week and families will be eligible for four coupons/week.

The coupons will be accepted for locally grown food items only and will have no cash value.  At the end of each market day, the vendors will redeem the coupons for a check from the Famer's Market Coordinator.
