A Safe Environment

For many students, non-school hours can be the least active time of the day, and the time when middle school-aged students are most likely to be involved in an unsafe situation. CATS’ 21st Century Community Learning Centers can help keep students safe by providing academic assistance and recreational activities during these times.

The 21 Century Community Learning Centers offers free programming for students that combine:

·         Non-traditional academic learning opportunities

·         Recreational and cultural activities

·         Life skills training

·         A safe, supervised environment

·         Family involvement activities

The program is available to all middle- school- aged youth in communities where centers are located; however, priority is given to the students who attend the affiliated school. Programming may be available for younger children depending on the specific site.

Say Good-Bye To Boredom!

At our after school program, brains get a work out and so do bodies! Students can explore, question and work cooperatively using tools, games and computers to learn.

Educators develop an individual curriculum to provide necessary academic assistance based on the ability of every student.

A healthy snack and beverage are provided to participants daily.

Sports, recreational activities, and other enrichment opportunities are provided to help use after-school energy in a positive, safe way.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural and community programming and events.

21st Century Community Learning Centers are designed to provide opportunities for our students to excel.

Something for ADULTS TOO………..

21ST CCLC programs encourage every person in the family to get involved and help make a difference in the quality of life for everyone.

Join the Parent Advisory Board

Help guide the after school program so the lives of each student are enhanced.  Assist in ensuring that every avenue of interest has been explored to provide the most opportunities for your child. The board meets once a month for about one hour. A schedule can be provided by contacting the Project Director or a Site Coordinator.

Volunteer

Care providers are encouraged to participate everyday, once a month, or even one day a year to assist the after school program and to ensure that the best services are being provided daily. We appreciate all of our parents and volunteers who dedicate their valuable time to our children.

Participate

Programs have included parent trainings, literacy, stress relief, holiday cooking tips, GED classes, crafts and more. Ask your site coordinator for details, and suggest what you would like to see offered.

As a result of parent, school and community advocacy for quality after-school programming, the “No Child Left Behind” Act of 2001 provides funding for the development of 21st Century Community Learning Centers across the nation.
