JACINTO GARCIA

Jacinto Garcia was born in 1970 in Totonicapan, Guatemala. Jacinto’s parents were artisans with a long tradition in pottery and woodcarving.

Jacinto started working with his father when he was 12 years old. In 2001, Jacinto moved to California carrying the tradition and his parent’s legacy to the Canal community in San Rafael.

One of his dreams, as artisan, is to promote his father’s teachings and ancestral roots in the course of his life in California. Part of Jacinto’s work will be connected with the ancestors, nature and local heroes of his native Land. One of Mr. Garcia’s favorite mask is TECUM-UMAN, last king of Quiche, complemented with jaguars, snakes or the National bird of Guatemala: The Quetzal.
