The Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York’s (CIDNY) www.cidny.org goal is to ensure full integration, independence and equal opportunity for all people with disabilities by removing barriers to the social, economic, cultural and civic life of the community.
 
The Disability Rights Movement www.americanhistory.si.edu/disabilityrights focuses on the ongoing struggle by people with disabilities to gain full citizenship.
 
Access-A-Ride www.mta.info/nyct/paratran/guide.htm provides transportation for people with disabilities who are unable to use public bus or subway service for some or all of their trips. It offers shared ride, door-to-door paratransit service.
