ARHF Discussion Forum

An Inclusive, Results-Oriented Coalition

Our Mission:

The mission of the Atlanta Regional Health Forum is to transform the health of the Atlanta region by education, encouraging, enabling, and empowering communities and individuals to achieve their fullest health potential.

Our Vision:

The vision of the Atlanta Regional Health Forum is to bring L.I.F.E. to regional issues:
  • Leveraging community assets and health research resources
  • Integrating health into planning
  • Framing issues and agendas for health
  • Engaging communities in participatory processes to effect change
We define health as a state of complete physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Our Core Values:

  • JUSTICE – Fairness should drive health decisions, focused especially on increasing access to quality healthcare and eliminating disparity in health status
  • INCLUSIVITY - All segments of the community participate, particularly business, faith groups, and grassroots neighborhood residents
  • COMMITMENT - Investments in health take advantage of all community assets including formal ealthcare delivery systems and the rich array of social, business, education and political systems
  • TRUST & TRANSPARENCY - Coordination of health and human services is assured through relationships of trust and transparency

Our "Passion"

Our passion is healthy neighborhoods for everyone, especially for our children and grandchildren.

Statement Regarding Organizational Transparency

A commitment to organizational transparency is an attempt to create a high level of trust among stakeholders through insistence on open access to information, participation and decision-making.  In both the public and private sectors, openness about intentions and the formulation and implementation of initiatives is increasingly recognized as a key element of good governance.

The Atlanta Regional Health Forum is an organization that would not exist but for the trust of our participants and stakeholders, and we have always recognized that our organization must be transparent. As we grow and begin to achieve our vision and mission, we know we must do all of the things that other organizations do to demonstrate their transparency and trustworthiness, and then we must exceed those standards. Thus, like other organizations, we have a strong conflict of interest policy, and we will be audited regularly. Our commitment to transparency exceeds those standards because we will hold ourselves accountable--to our stakeholders and the general public-- under the broader principles of trust and transparency, rather than just under director independence or financial audit standards.

We strongly encourage anyone with concerns about whether we are living up to our commitment to this or any other Core Value, or to our Vision, or “Passion,” to contact the Chair of our Board or any Member of our Board of Directors or Board of Advisors.
