Did you know...  Just a few reasons the US needs Health Reform & not incremental change...
  • There are currently 650,000 uninsured residents in the Atlanta Region.
  • The US spends approximately 16% of GDP on healthcare but ranks 37th in overall performance and 72nd by overall level of health compared to other countries.
  • Maintaining the current system will cost more over the next 10 years than the most expensive proposals proposed for Reform
  • Employers are paying almost 60% of the total cost of health care in the US.
  • There has been a 127% increase in the prevalence of obesity in the U.S. since 1990.
  • American babies are three times more likely to die in their first month as children born in Japan, and newborn mortality is 2.5 times higher in the US than in Finland, Iceland or Norway.

The Atlanta Regional Health Forum (ARHF) is an inclusive, multisectoral, results-oriented, nonpartisan coalition operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to creating healthy local communities which ensure the highest health potential for each person within the ten core county region of metropolitan Atlanta. Our concept of health is as defined by the World Health Organization:

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental, social (and spiritual) well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Membership
in ARHF is open to any person or organization who wishes to help us pursue our vision (public, private, governmental, corporate, legal, education, business, managed care, community-at-large, etc.).

There are working committees within the Forum giving members the opportunity to engage in projects based on their interest and experience.
