Neil oversees the educational program at the Outdoor Lab and is responsible for the daily administration of the facility. Neil’s educational background includes an A.A.S. in Forestry from Paul Smith’s College and a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University. Additionally, he has gained teacher certification through course work at various Northern Virginia colleges. Neil has worked in the outdoors for most of his adult life. Among Neil’s experiences, prior to coming to the Outdoor Lab, are supervising trail crews for the Student Conservation Association, surveying boundary lines for the Payette National Forest, and assisting a Cornell professor with research and teaching. He is a strong proponent of experientially based education and this is reflected in the current program at the Outdoor Lab.

He currently resides in Arlington with his wife Sue Eisenfeld in a home they recently purchased.

Anthony’s many duties include daily administration ofOutdoor Lab activities, help with improving and developing current curriculum, and daily maintenance of the Lab.

Anthony grew up in Arlington, attending public school there. He then went on to Northern Virginia Community College and to Prescott College in Central Arizona, working toward a B.A. in Environmental Education. Anthony has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the outdoors. He’s certified as a wilderness first responder and has spent the last several years teaching in and out of the classroom. Anthony spent the 97-98 school year developing and leading programs for State Forests and Parks of Massachusetts under the Student Conservation Association and Americorps.

Anthony currently enjoys living in Arlington close to his family and friends.

Richard Adamovich
Richard has been a part of the Lab for many years.  He started volunteering in the summer of 1995 and was officially hired on as a part time employee in 1997.  Richard’s duties have expanded to include a little of everything including some teaching, maintenance, and general facility work.

He enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including soccer, rollerblading, and composting.  His love of compost and recycling has improved the Lab’s compost facilities and now almost every scrap of organic matter is recycled at the Lab.  Every day is different at the Lab and Richard enjoys working in the outdoors, surrounded by nature and fresh air.

Richard currently lives in Arlington, where the rollerblading opportunities are plentiful.

Michele Karnbach
Michele is the newest member of the Outdoor Lab staff.  She joined the Lab team in the fall of 2005, after graduating from Roanoke College with a B.S. in Environmental Science.  Michele’s responsibilities focus mainly on teaching and overseeing the Animal Lab.

Michele’s experience comes from a lifetime of living overseas, enjoying firsthand immersion in different cultures.  Because she is half Uruguayan, Michele is fluent in spanish and often teaches lessons at the Lab in spanish.  Michele is currently working on completing her certification as a Master Gardener and enjoys working on landscapes at the Lab.

Michele lives in Woodbridge, VA with her husband Brian and new daughter Evelyn.
