Practice Manager, Ambulatory Pediatrics - Boston Medical Center
About the Pediatric Department
The Pediatric Department is a center of excellence for care of children in an urban setting and home of nationally recognized, innovative, multidisciplinary programs of care and advocacy for children and families. Our 125 physicians provide complete outpatient and inpatient services in the Pediatric Primary Care Practice, Pediatric Specialty Group (17 medical subspecialties), Adolescent Center, Pediatric Emergency Department, Birth Place (nursery), Pediatric Inpatient Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The Pediatric Department had more than 29,000 emergency visits, 45,000 outpatient visits and 4,500 inpatient discharges last year.
About the Position
The Practice Manager for Ambulatory Pediatrics will work closely with the nursing and physician leadership of the Pediatric Primary Care Practice, Adolescent Center and Pediatric Specialty Group to ensure high-quality, patient-focused, cost effective services.
Responsible for the management of the operations, staff, finances, program planning and development, facility and regulatory compliance, and quality improvement, the successful candidate will ensure optimal patient access and customer satisfaction.
The Practice Manager for Ambulatory Pediatrics will be expected to accomplish several key objectives:
- Provide high quality, creative, and solutions-oriented administrative/financial support, advice, and counsel at the operational level.
- Provide leadership which is clearly people and service oriented and emphasizes integrity, team building, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in all endeavors. Create a customer services focus for both internal and external customers and constituencies.
- Establish a reputation as the administrative leader for Ambulatory Pediatrics and develop positive and effective strategic relationships with all levels of the organization at the Hospital and Clinics, Divisions, Foundation and personnel in other departments.
- Interpret and communicate the hospital's management directives for the faculty and staff. Be proactive in identifying ways in which the department can meet hospital-wide objectives.
- Develop a solid understanding of department issues and procedures. Identify new opportunities to enhance revenues and continue to effectively manage productivity and expenses. Review and assess department administrative structure and identify and implement changes to reduce duplication and inefficiencies.
- Continue to standardize and improve administrative, business, and financial practices, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required. MBA or MHA strongly preferred
- 5 years of progressively advancing healthcare administration and/or management experience
- Demonstrated leadership and contributions to an organization's growth and development
