A significant portion of the Community Plan is devoted to Water Resources given the crucial life-sustaining role of water. Nine goals are given for water resources in the Williamson Valley. These include stewarding the water supply carefully, securing and protecting natural water resources, and promoting the development of a regional watershed management program.
The water resources section covers in great detail the existing supply situation, existing water companies, their numbers of accounts, and areas served along with a summary of individual wells. Annual precipitation from the year 1900 to the present time is covered as are riparian areas, floodplains, wastewater systems, and endangered species. The challenges in dealing with water demand by an increasing population are discussed.
