Mayor Wilson acknowledged that the city is having financial difficulties as a result of the recession and cannot begin any new road projects. However, they will continue to acquire property for the Williamson Valley Rd expansion and as soon as money is available the city will begin the Williamson Valley Rd expansion to 4 lanes. However, he couldn't remember the reasons why the expansion is taking place (although he was sure it was in the best interest of all the citizens of Prescott). He also said he was unaware of the recently released plan for Interstate 11 and it's spur to Prescott which appears to utilize Williamson Valley Rd and Pioneer Pkwy. I was left with the impression that there is more going on with respect to Williamson Valley Rd. than is being told to the public.
