WVCO, Inc.

Mission

WVCO, Inc was formed by the merger of WVCP, Inc. and Friends of Williamson Valley (FWV).  With the merger, the organization assumed the missions of both organizations.
WVCP Inc. was formed to create a Williamson Valley Corridor Plan that, when adopted by the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, will amend the Yavapai County General Plan. The organization also worked to implement the Corridor Plan, to educate Williamson Valley residents and property owners about the historical and environmental setting of the area, to promote the community values reflected in surveys of Williamson Valley residents and property owners, and to develop a sense of community spirit within the Corridor.

The purpose of the Friends of Williamson Valley was to educate the public at large on all pertinent data regarding the current and proposed condition of Williamson Valley Road, also known as County Route 5 and Simmons Highway.

The FWV workedto ensure that any and all improvements to Williamson Valley Road achieve a satisfactory level of safety and efficiency, while retaining and promoting its irreplaceable, natural scenic landscape and protecting the existing environmentally sensitive, unique nature of this rural equestrian community.

FWV also worked to ensure improvements to the road to maintain two lanes of traffic, one in each direction, and provide turn lanes, pullouts, wide shoulders, pedestrian, equestrian, and bicycle lanes where appropriate. This design would eliminate the need for huge purchases of existing properties, destruction of houses, outbuildings and yards, and the unnecessary removal of established trees.

The FWV worked to ensure that the Yavapai County Department of Public Works' plans to build four and five lanes on Williamson Valley Road are halted.
