The monument dedicated to George Washington, located in the Parco delle Cascine, piazzale Kennedy, was a gift of the American community to the Ciity of Florence in 1932 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of the first President of the United States of America. On the 275th anniversary of the birth of George Washington, the Tuscan-American Association is launching a project for much needed restoration of the monument.
