Election Night - a huge success!

FOR ALL OUR SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS
Thanks to you all, we were able to offer a wonderful evening and a huge ‘HAPPENING’ for all on Election Night 2008. The estimated crowd attending given to me as we shut down that evening by the Director of Saschall was ‘more than 3,500 and close to 4,000’!

I would like to add a personal comment: the evening was exceptional, not only because so many came and shared but also because so many were hoping for the result that was subsequently confirmed. The enormous amount of work done by so many gave us all a chance – Italians and Americans alike – to come together and be together for what all are calling ‘an historical moment’. I am very proud to be a ‘Tuscan- American’ here for 40 years, I am proud to see the American democratic process reconfirmed once again, and I hope with all my heart that ‘we can change’. Thanks again to you all! more »

Restoring George
Not only George’s nose, but the entire monument has been scrutinized by the Scuola Edile Fiorentina and is now being put back in order by their students under direct supervision of the professional restoration staff. Despite uncooperative weather, the project should be completed by the beginning of July.

The City of Philadelphia (Florence sister city for 45 years in 2009) is an esteemed sponsor and will offer to major local sponsors a commemorative special US mint “George Washington dollar”. more »

Independence Day
A essential tradition for the Tuscan American Association – this year twinned with the inauguration of the restored monument to George Washington – will take place in the Cascine – ippodromo (race track) on July 5th… the formula is typically American – hamburgers, hotdogs, fun for kids and families and lots of music for the young and young in heart. Special treat – a demonstration game of polo, pony rides, and a great lottery. more »
