I recently came across the web site nationalcasa.org. It is a site where they are looking for volunteers to be court appointed GAL's. I have only read a little bit about it, but there is a search by area where it links you to the county where you would like to volunteer. Maybe it is something for The Other Parent to look into and/or pass on to its subscribers. Perhaps if we can't get the child custody system fixed from the top down, we can help create change in the trenches where it matters most. If there was a large population of GAL's who truly seek the best interest of the children, i.e. shared parenting, many children's and parents live's would be better served.
