Mission:
Sister’s Keeper Resource Center (SKRCI) is a 501 (c) (3 ) non-profit organization geared to focusing on healing, restoring, building and guiding women to a healthier and productive lifestyle and achieving their personal and professional goals through information, education, referral, networking and spiritual growth.
The SKRCI consist of women of all backgrounds and age and is not limited to single mothers.
What makes us unique is our accountability mothers and we continue program. This allows our organization to stay in contact with our to provide the support after they have attended a workshop or class.
- SKRCI programs offer the intimate support of small workshops, seminars, and networking groups and counseling to teach goal setting, empowerment, leadership, and self- esteem.
It is our goal to educate women to a stress free and healthier life style. SKRCI is where we encourage women to reach for their dreams.
Why is Sister’s Keeper Resource Center Important?
In the state of Maryland there are 427,000 single parent household. 382,000 are being raised by a single mother, and 70,000 are being raised by grandparents. (2004 static provided by Kids Count)
In 2003, there were 12,300 teen mothers ages 15-19 years of age.
In 2004, there were 21,000 teen drop outs and not working.
Increasing numbers of abandonment, neglected and abused children.
- Increasing working mothers who need to increase their value on the job.
- Teens mothers that are in high school .
- Increase pressure of providing the basic, food, shelter and clothing.

2007-Current - Over the past six months, SKRCI has accomplished servicing 400 individuals through telephone calls. About 79% of those who called were referred to other resources because they were out of state. (New Jersey, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, California, New York) The other 21% were serviced through SKRCI family services program providing food, furniture, clothing, workshops, and other resources in Virginia, DC and Maryland. This referral network highlights our efforts in developing strong community partnerships to assist in our individual clients’ holistic rehabilitation process. 2005 - First Annual Conference, Performing Art Programs based in community after school programs and recreational departments.
2000-2001 Workshops included Dress for Success, Financial Workshop, Building Self Esteem, Career Change and Résumé Writing, Goal Setting, School Supply Drive.
2002-2003- Career Day Crossland High School, Partnership with Woman2Woman Clothing Drive, Mother's Day Luncheon, Girl's Talk Support Group.
2003-2004- Summer Camp, Partnership with Manteryfly Youth Development Breaking Cycles (mentoring program) held at a local DC elementary school, The Winning Choices Conference, Toy Drive.
